The Great California ShakeOut – October 15, 2026
On October 15, 2026 at 10:15 a.m., millions of people around the world will practice Drop, Cover, and Hold On during the Great ShakeOut Earthquake Drill, an annual event that began in California in 2008. Participating is a simple way for your family, workplace, school, or organization to prepare for earthquakes and improve your ability to respond and recover quickly, wherever you live, work, or travel.
While some areas of California are more likely to have earthquakes than others, all of California is at higher risk compared to the rest of the country. In fact, the beautiful San Bernardino Mountains are the result of seismic activity along the San Andreas Fault running right through the County.
You could be anywhere when an earthquake strikes: at home, at work, at school, or even on vacation.
What you do now will determine your quality of life after our next damaging earthquake. Are you prepared to survive and recover quickly?
